If you see here something you like, you can ask in the Source Forge forums how to do it. UPDATE!: For all those who have updated from Classic Shell to Open-Shell, make sure that you place the skin in the Open-Shell folder instead of the Classic Shell folder. The purpose of this image gallery is to showcase the main features of Classic Shell and the extents to which it can be customized. also, all the text in the notification area is white like default as well and the start. ive tired multiple skins, closing out of classic shell and googling the problem nothing has worked yet. You should now have the good old Windows XP fonts! is there no way to get taskbar skin textures to apply what happens on my end is when i apply a skin, instead of it applying the taskbar texture it just shows the solid color from the windows settings. To use the skin, extract the skin to "C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\Skins", using 7zip ( You can download it from here: To apply the skin, open the classic shell start menu settings, go to the skin tab and from the menu, choose "Windows XP Luna New" and click OK. If you want to do so, you will have to do it manually, because the skin does not contain the icons and it neither contains the start menu structure.
As you can see in the screenshot I also changed the icons. It doesn't look exactly like it is in Windows XP, but at least unlike the default Windows XP Luna skin, it has the correct font. That is why I am publishing this skin file for classic shell. For some reason the font in the classic shell start menu uses the default font "Segoe UI", even if you changed the system font. If you have tried to make the Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or 10 start menu like from Windows XP, by using classic shell, you might have noticed that the font in the menu is incorrect.
